Hebgen Reservoir to Quake Lake

Cabin Creek River access

This is a short section of the river that should be well represented by my site at the Cabin Creek river access site. I have 2 samples (144 and 276) from spring and fall 1996. At this site worms are very abundant and Tubifex cannot be missed in even small samples. This is normal below deep storage reservoirs. Of the 283 worms closely examined, 147 were Tubifex tubifex and this is biased downward because of my intensional effort to include all of the other species. The current absent of whirling disease in this section of the river is not due to the lack to Tubifex. If the reason is not pure luck, it could provide useful management options. This should be investigated.
