Nais pseudobtusa Piguet

Recognition

One to 3 dorsal hair chaetae are present. The dorsal needle chaetae number 1 to 3 and they are simple pointed, fairly long (about 90 um) and have long pointed tips. Ventral chaetae number 2 to 6 with the teeth not so long and thin as Nais behningi, the length of the distal tooth about 1.5 times the proximal tooth. Most Nais have eyes.

Summary

The length is 1.7 to 6 mm. It swims with spiral movements.

Distribution

A widespread species over much of the world.
