Aulodrilus pluriseta (Piguet)

Recognition

The dorsal bundles with hair and bifid, but not pectinate chaetae. The anterior dorsal bundles have up to 8 short bayonet-shaped hairs and 10 bifid chaetae. There are up to 16 bifid chaetae in the anterior ventral bundles. The ventral chaetae in 8 have the distal tooth shorter or thinner than the proximal tooth.

Summary

A small tubificid (10 - 25 mm) living in reinforced tubes of silty, enriched, weedy areas. Reproduces sexually and asexually by budding.

Distribution

This is a world-wide species that is widespread in North America.
