Arcteonais lomondi (Martin)

Recognition

Dorsal hair chaetae are present and number 8 to 18 per bundle, those on segments 6 and 7 are less than 3 times the length of those on segment 9. The dorsal needles number 9 to 12 per bundle and begin on segment 6. The ventral chaetae number 3 to 7. A proboscis is present as in Pristina, which has the dorsal chaetae beginning on segment 2, and Stylaria lacustris, which has fewer dorsal chaetae and has the proboscis set in an invagination. Eyes may be present or absent.

Summary

The length is 6 to 10 mm. This species swims by wriggling.

Distribution

It is a widespread holarctic species.
