Stylaria lacustris (Linnaeus)
Recognition
Dorsal hair chaetae are present and number 1 to 3 per bundle. There are also 3 to 4 needle chaetae per dorsal bundle, and these lack a nodulus and begin in segment 6. The ventral chaetae number 4 to 14 and have a proximal double bend. A proboscis is present and it is often set in an invagination. Among our naids, a proboscis is present only in Arcteonais lomondi, which has far more dorsal chaetae, and Pristina which has the dorsal chaetae beginning in the second segment. Eyes and coelomocytes are present.
