Nais simplex Piguet
Recognition
One or 2 dorsal hair chaetae are present. The dorsal needle chaetae number 1 or 2 and they are simple pointed and short (about 60 um). The ventral chaetae number 2 to 6 with the teeth not so long and thin as Nais behningi, the length of the teeth are about equal, unlike Nais alpina. Most Nais have eyes.
Summary
The length is 4 to 8 mm. It swims with spiral movements.
Distribution
A widespread species over much of the world.
