Limnodrilus profundicola (Verrill)
Recognition
The dorsal bundles with bifid or simple chaetae but no hairs. Only mature worms can be identified. The penis sheaths are short for the genus, up to 7x the width in length (200 - 300 um) and have a simple head plate.
Summary
A medium sized tubificid (20 -45 mm). A species of cold oligotrophic sites. It is rarely dominant.
Distribution
A world-wide species occurring across northern North America.
