Bothrioneurum vejdovskyanum Stolc
Recognition
The dorsal bundles with bifid or simple chaetae but no hairs. The prostomium has a unique dorsal sensory pit. The are abundant coelomocytes like Rhyacodrilus. The anterior chaetae number 3-4 per bundle and they are thinner than the posterior chaetae, which number 2 per bundle. There are several, hook-shaped penial chaetae and no spermathecae, the spermatophores are attached externally.
Summary
A medium sized tubificid (28 - 35 mm) of large rivers favoring coarse sand. Sexually mature specimens are rare. Asexual reproduction is common.
Distribution
A world-wide species that is widespread in North America.
