Recognition
The dorsal bundles with bifid or simple chaetae but no hairs. The dorsal chaetae before 7 are bifid with a reduced upper tooth and up to 10 per bundle. The dorsal chaetae behind 7 are spatulate in facial view and compressed with small teeth in lateral view.
Summary
A small worm (12 - 15 mm) living in reinforced tubes of silty, mesotrophic, weedy areas. Asexual reproduction by budding and fragmentation is common. Reported in the drift. It often occurs with A. pigueti.
Distribution
A world-wide species that is widespread in North America.
